Tom Fries of Depew is seeking a living kidney donor. A beloved husband and father, and dedicated coach and friend, Tom is listed for transplant at Erie County Medical Center.
Tom’s family describes him as the kind of person who lights up a room with his humor and laughter. “Whether he is cracking jokes or telling stories, he is always managing to make people smile,” they said.
For years, Tom has been a tireless coach, mentoring athletes and shaping young lives. He has coached for Regals Hockey and the Lancaster-Depew Baseball League. An avid golfer, he served on the board of directors at the Buffalo Golf Club.

“When he’s not raising money for charity, golfing or coaching, you will find him fishing in his one of his favorite spots at Como Lake Park,” family members said. “He enjoys spending time with his family and he and Anna have been together for over 30 years and married for 28 of them! They have two children, a daughter Amanda and a son Thomas who are the pride and joy of his life.”

Health problems have prevented Tom from working over the last year and he had to retire early from his job of over 35 years. He’s hoping for a transplant to allow him to continue enjoying time with his family, watch his children grow, and keep making a difference in the lives of those around him
Tom has blood type A, meaning he can receive a kidney from a donor with type A or O blood. For information about living donation at ECMC, call 716-898-4931.
