Rachel Kijek-Miller of Hamburg needs a kidney transplant. She has type A blood and is listed with ECMC.
Rachel is an animal lover. She enjoys cooking, entertaining and spending time with family.
“I was diagnosed with kidney disease when I was 11 years old,” she wrote. “I went on dialysis when I was 17 years old.”
Rachel received a kidney from a deceased donor when she was 18. That kidney lasted about eight years. “Then in 2001, my BFF donated her kidney to me,” Rachel explained. “I was blessed with 23 years of having a normal life.”
During that time, Rachel successfully battled colon cancer. Now, she’s been in remission for five years. Rachel is dealing with kidney failure once again and back on dialysis.
