Observed in April each year, National Donate Life Month increases awareness about donation, encourage Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to honor those who have saved lives through the gift of donation

ConnectLife, the organ donation organization serving Western New York, is celebrating Donate Life Month in 2023 with the theme is “Because of muddy waters, I bloom.” The lotus rises from the dark muddy waters and blossoms in the light highlighting the strength and resilience in us all.

At the end of March, 103,961 people in the United States were on the active waiting list for an organ transplant. A total of 90,700 were waiting for a kidney. Of those, 12,776 had been waiting five years or longer for a kidney transplant. In New York State alone, there were 7,187 people waiting for a kidney transplant.
