The 2024 Walk for Kidney Health will take place on Sunday, June 23 at the Lakeside Lawn and Complex at Outer Harbor Buffalo. (Use the address 825 Fuhrmann Blvd., Buffalo, NY 14203 for GPS navigation.)

Set-Up (10+)
Please arrive by: 6:45 a.m.
Active: 7:00-9:00 a.m.
Tasks: Assist in setting up activity areas and small tents, unloading materials, moving tables and chairs and putting up signs.
Parking (4+)
Please arrive by: 7:30 a.m.
Active: 7:45-10:30 a.m.
Tasks: Guide drivers to open spots in parking areas, keeping vehicles in rows. Help those with mobility challenges to locate close parking spots.
Greeting / 5K T-shirt Distribution (4)
Please arrive by 7:00 a.m.
Active 7:15-10:30 a.m.
Tasks: Greet event participants and thank them for coming. Direct 5K participants to collect their race bibs from Race Management Solutions. Distribute t-shirts to 5K participants.
Walk participants will arrive after the 5K and volunteers can greet them and direct them as needed. Disposable face masks will be available at the greeting station for anyone who needs them.
Route Volunteers (6+)
Please arrive by: 7:15 a.m.
Active: 7:30-8:45 a.m.
Tasks: Provide direction to 5K participants as they travel the course. Point out the proper direction of the route and alert runners who accidentally head the wrong way. Staff will provide route volunteers with a map of the course.
Activities (8+)
Please arrive by: 8:30 a.m.
Active: 8:45-11:00 a.m.
•Kid’s Activities (2): We will have bubbles, coloring sheets and other single-use kid-friendly materials. Please help keep the distribution table orderly and sanitize if needed.
•All-Ages Activities (3): Help to keep Kan Jam, Corn Hole and other games materials in order when they are not in use. Sanitize items between users.
•Photo-Takers (3): Assist individuals and teams with taking pictures and also take pictures on behalf of the Kidney Foundation of WNY. Keep props and signs in order and sanitize them as needed
‘Why We Walk’ Tent (2+)
Please arrive by: 7:45 a.m.
Active: 8:00-11:00 a.m.
Tasks: Our ‘Why We Walk’ tent will have opportunities for participants to share images and messaging relating to their fight against kidney disease, as well as honoring kidney donors, caregivers and those we have lost. Volunteers will show participants how the memory wall works.

Clean-Up (8+)
Please arrive by: 10:45 a.m.
Active: 11:00 a.m. to noon
Tasks: Clean up empty bottles, pick up scrap papers, fold up small tents, ensure trash is in bins, collect cones and signs. Assist with general packing and cleaning.
