National Donate Life Month, observed each April, is about the importance of registering your decision to be a donor, honoring deceased and living donors, and celebrating the lives they saved. It is the generosity of donors and donor families that makes saving lives through transplantation possible.
Kidneys are the most frequently transplanted organ, but there are many more people in need than there are organs available. More than 100,000 people are waiting on the national transplant waiting list for lifesaving organ transplants.

Donate Life America notes that 86% of patients on the waiting list are waiting for a kidney. The average waiting time for a kidney from a deceased donor is 3 to 5 years. A kidney from a living donor offers patients an alternative to years of dialysis and time on the national transplant waiting list.
We ask you to be a part of this life-sustaining community by registering as a donor, becoming educated about living donation, and championing the Donate Life cause.
