Press Release | Culinary student cook-off will benefit Kidney Foundation of WNY

Ready-to-serve.jpgThe Great WNY Kidney Bean Cook-Off will return to SUNY Erie Community College’s City Campus on November 7. Culinary Arts students will create interesting and unusual recipes with a bean theme in a competition organized by the Kidney Foundation of WNY. Guests can sample all of the dishes and vote for their favorites in several categories.

“The third annual event promises to be bigger and better than ever,” said event co-chair Tom Noonan. “We have some new twists this year, including a dish which is not made with beans but focused on maintaining good kidney health.”

In addition to food tastings and voting, the Kidney Bean Cook-Off will feature live music and a basket raffle. Funds from the event will support Kidney Foundation of WNY programs, including free kidney health screenings, awareness campaigns and patient support services.

“As a kidney transplant recipient, I know how important it is to educate people on kidney health, dealing with kidney disease and organ donation,” Noonan said. “This event raises money to support all these areas. We hope the people of Western New York will come and enjoy a great evening of food and fun.”

The Kidney Bean Cook-Off will be Thursday, November 7 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the Atrium at SUNY Erie City Campus, 121 Ellicott St., Buffalo, NY 14203. Event information and tickets are available online at www.kfwny.org/cookoff or by calling the Kidney Foundation of WNY at 716-529-4393.
